The U.S. is experiencing a significant surge in liquefied natural gas (LNG) activity, driven by geopolitical shifts such as Nord Stream 2 disruptions and policy decisions encouraging new terminal construction in the southern U.S., particularly Texas and Louisiana.

In 2024, U.S. LNG exports reached a record 11.9 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd), with projections indicating an increase to 21.5 bcfd by 2030. This growth is supported by the expansion of export capacity, which is expected to grow by 20% in 2025 to 115 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

As demand for LNG grows, operational efficiency, reliability, and predictive analytics are more important than ever.

Our Recent Field Insights

Hint recently visited U.S. LNG operators and project teams in Texas and Louisiana to introduce our AML Plant Reliability solutions, AMADAS, and CEMS modules. Face-to-face meetings proved invaluable, offering deeper, more flexible discussions than remote calls. These engagements highlighted the high level of interest in operational efficiency and predictive maintenance, but also revealed key challenges:

  • -Data Integration & Quality: Real-world plant data can be siloed, inconsistent, or incomplete, emphasizing the need for strong validation and structured workflows.
  • -Pilot & Proof-of-Concept Implementation: While there’s enthusiasm for reliability and monitoring tools, approval processes and pilot budgets can create barriers. Strategic, staged demonstrations are essential.

  • -Project Scope Alignment: AML modules need to be specified in project definitions to ensure integration from commissioning and startup phases.

Takeaways

  • Personal, on-site engagement drives faster relationship-building and real-time problem-solving.

  • Pilots are critical for demonstrating value and building trust with operators.

  • Clear communication and structured data approaches are vital to success.

  • The southern U.S. market presents significant opportunities for AML, AMADAS, and CEMS solutions—especially in the context of new terminal development and increasing LNG demand.

Next Steps

We’re planning follow-up engagements in Texas and Louisiana, as well as a trip to the Middle East later this year, to expand relationships, explore pilot opportunities, and demonstrate how our tools can help operators optimize plant performance and reliability.
